General
How do I book a Zambezi rafting trip?+
Book online in a few minutes by choosing a trip and paying a deposit, or message us on WhatsApp — handy if you're already in Livingstone and want to go the next day. Groups of six or more are arranged directly with us.
Is pickup from my lodge included?+
Yes. Pickup and return from your Livingstone lodge (or the Post Office) are included on our rafting trips. We confirm your pickup time the day before.
How much deposit do I pay?+
You pay a 30% deposit to confirm your booking, with the balance due on arrival.
What is the minimum age for rafting?+
13 years old, in line with safety guidance for the Zambezi rapids. Gentler experiences like the Sunset Mokoro Cruise suit a wider range of ages.
When is the best time to raft the Zambezi?+
The low-water season, roughly August to December, opens the full run of up to 25 rapids. High water (about January to March) shortens the run, and rafting is usually suspended at peak flood around April to May.
Do you provide safety equipment?+
Yes — helmets, life jackets and paddles are provided and worn the whole time on the water, and safety kayakers accompany every rafting trip.
Can we book for a large group?+
Yes. For groups of 16 or more, message us on WhatsApp and we'll arrange it, including multiple rafts and logistics.
Best 7 Rapids
Do I need to know how to swim?+
You do not need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable in water. You will wear a life jacket the whole time and our safety team is always close by.
How fit do I need to be?+
Moderate fitness is plenty. You will paddle when the guide asks, but the raft does most of the work.
What is the minimum age?+
13 years old, in line with safety guidance for the Zambezi rapids.
Swim Below Victoria Falls
Why is this only available some months?+
Reaching the pools below the Falls is only safe when the river is low, roughly mid-August to December. We never run it in high water.
Do I have to jump from the cliffs?+
No. Every jump is optional — there is always a walk-in entry to the water if you would rather take it easy.
Is lunch included?+
Yes, a proper lunch is part of the day.
Half-Day Rafting
What grade are the rapids?+
Mostly grade III to V depending on water level. Your guide will scout and brief the bigger ones before you run them.
Is there a climb out of the gorge?+
The half-day exit is shorter than the full day, but expect a climb out at the end — take it at your own pace.
Full-Day Rafting
What time does it start and finish?+
Pickup is early for an 8am put-in, and you will usually be back at your lodge in the late afternoon.
How hard is the hike out?+
It is a steep climb out of the gorge at the end of the day. Take it slowly — your guides do this every day and will keep the group together.
Is lunch included?+
Yes, lunch on the river is part of the trip.
Sunset Mokoro Cruise
How is it priced?+
Per mokoro: $90 for one guest, $150 for two, $200 for three. Transport to the launch point is extra.
Is it safe / calm?+
Yes — this is the gentle upper river, not the rapids. It is suitable for all comfortable swimmers and non-rafters.
Can larger groups come?+
A single mokoro takes up to three. For larger groups, email us and we will arrange multiple boats.
2-Day Rafting
Where do we sleep?+
On a sandy beach deep in the gorge, in a simple bush-camp set up by your guides. All camping is provided.
How many people come?+
A maximum of six guests, so it stays intimate and flexible.
Are meals included?+
Yes — every meal on the two days is included.
